Support for mild to moderate ulnar drift with the 3pp Polycentric Hinged Ulnar Deviation Splint
The 3pp Polycentric Hinged Ulnar Deviation Splint is designed for mild to moderate ulnar drift corrections. Malleable aluminium finger pieces give palmar surface support, while hinges allow free MP flexion and extension so your hand can still open and close.
Why You'll Love the 3pp Polycentric Hinged Ulnar Deviation Splint
- Hinges that move with you. Free MP flexion and extension means you can still grip and release.
- Support under the fingers. Malleable aluminium finger pieces provide palmar surface support.
- Comfortable lining. The finger pieces are covered with a washable foam-lined material.
- Shaped to your hand. The wrist piece is Kydex, a high temperature plastic that can be contoured with a heat gun for a custom fit.
Life with the 3pp Polycentric Hinged Ulnar Deviation Splint
When the fingers start drifting towards the little finger side, everyday grips like holding a cup can feel less sure. This splint guides the fingers while the hinges let your knuckles bend, so you keep using your hand through the day.
The 3pp Polycentric Hinged Ulnar Deviation Splint in a nutshell
- Left or right hand: choose the side you need.
- Three sizes: Small, Medium and Large, measured across the 2nd to 5th MCP width.
- Washable finger covers: foam-lined covering on the finger pieces.
- Heat-mouldable Kydex: can be contoured with a heat gun, usually by a therapist.
Choosing the right size and side
Size is set by knuckle width (2nd to 5th MCP width). Measure the hand the splint is for, resting flat.
- Measure the knuckle width (A). Measure straight across the back of the hand at the big knuckles, from the index finger knuckle to the little finger knuckle. You only need measurement A.
- Pick the size. Performance Health lists the sizes in inches. If you've measured in cm, email us and we'll match it for you.
- Between sizes? Email us the measurement and we'll check it with you.
- Choose the side. Order Left for the left hand and Right for the right hand.
| Size | Knuckle width |
| Small | 7.0-7.6cm (2-3/4" to 3") |
| Medium | 7.6-8.6cm (3" to 3-3/8") |
| Large | 8.6-9.2cm (3-3/8" to 3-5/8") |
Is it the right ulnar deviation splint for you?
- A good fit: mild to moderate ulnar drift, where the fingers need guiding but the knuckles still need to bend.
- Check with your therapist first: if the drift is more than moderate. The Kydex wrist piece is usually shaped with a heat gun by a therapist.
- Good to know: the finger piece covers are washable.
Every hand and every recovery is different, so we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider or hand therapist about whether this is the right option for you.
