Soft, adjustable support for the base of the thumb: the 3pp Prima Thumb Brace
The 3pp Prima Thumb Brace is a soft support for the thumb's CMC and MCP joints, the joint at the base of the thumb and the big knuckle above it. A memory-stretch body hugs the thumb and palm, a contoured strap wraps around the thumb wherever you want it, and a removable stay adds firmer support when you need it. Your fingers stay free. It comes in small, medium and large, for the left or right hand.
Support the thumb, keep the fingers working
The brace sits around the thumb and palm and stops short of the fingers, so you can still grip, write and type. The thumb strap fastens anywhere on the brace and can be wrapped in different ways, so the support is set to suit each hand. An Easy-On Tab helps you put it on with one hand.
What's in the 3pp Prima Thumb Brace
Features
- Wrap-around straps that attach anywhere on the loop material, so the wearer sets the fit and firmness.
- Memory-stretch material conforms around the thumb and palm and leaves the fingers free.
- Removable dorsal stay adds CMC and MCP support, and comes out when you want a softer brace.
- Contoured thumb strap with hook tabs that stop it slipping, plus an extra layer of cushioning over the web space.
- Foam-lined fabric that's breathable and water repellent.
- Bound edges that won't fray, so the brace lasts.
- Easy-On Tab for putting it on with one hand.
- No natural rubber latex in the brace or its packaging.
Watch the Prima in use
3-Point Products' fitting video walks through positioning the thumb strap and wrapping it for support, step by step.
Is the Prima right for you?
- Usually suits: thumb arthritis (including CMC thumb arthritis), ligament injuries and overuse injuries. Those are the indications 3-Point Products lists.
- Support level: it's a soft brace. With the stay in, it adds CMC and MCP support; without it, it's softer still.
- Latex: no natural rubber latex was used in the product or packaging.
- Check with your hand therapist first: if the thumb has had recent surgery or needs to be held completely still.
Every hand is different, so talk to your hand therapist or doctor about whether it's right for you and how to wear it.
Choosing the right size and side
3-Point Products sizes the Prima by one measurement: around the hand at the big knuckles (the MP joints).
- Measure: lay the hand flat and wrap a soft tape around the hand at the big knuckles, leaving the thumb out.
- Read the chart: match the measurement to Small, Medium or Large below.
- Between sizes? The straps fasten anywhere on the brace, so there's room to adjust. Email us the measurement and we'll help you pick.
- Choose the side: order Left for the left thumb and Right for the right thumb.
| Size | Around the big knuckles | Sides we stock |
| Small | 14 to 18cm (5.5 to 7in) | Left, Right |
| Medium | 18 to 20cm (7 to 8in) | Left, Right |
| Large | 20 to 24cm (8 to 9.5in) | Left, Right |
