Firm support at the base of the thumb, hand free: the 3pp ThumSling NP

The 3pp ThumSling NP is a wrap-around thumb support that holds the CMC joint, the joint at the base of the thumb, while leaving the thumb itself open. It's fully lined in cushioned foam. A contoured strap gives support and compression at the CMC joint, and a removable stay adds more when you want it. It comes in black, in two sizes, for the left or right hand.

Keep doing the everyday jobs

Nothing squeezes around the thumb, so your hand keeps working for jobs like wringing out a towel, cooking or gardening. The strap fastens anywhere on the support, so you can wrap it where it feels best. 3-Point Products says the material is non-bulky enough to wear all day or overnight.

What's in the 3pp ThumSling NP

The support wraps around the hand and wrist, with a contoured strap that crosses over the base of the thumb. It includes a 5cm (2in) stay that slides in for extra support and comes out again when you don't need it.

Features

  • Contoured strap gives support and compression at the CMC joint.
  • Open-thumb design avoids constriction, so the hand keeps working normally.
  • Hook closures that grip anywhere on the support, for a fit you adjust yourself.
  • Fully lined in cushioned foam to protect the thumb and control its movement comfortably.
  • Resilient, breathable material that contours to the hand without bulk, for day or night wear.
  • Removable 5cm (2in) stay for extra support when you need it.
  • Extra wrist length for a more secure hold.
  • Hand or machine washable, with no natural rubber latex in the product or packaging.

Is the ThumSling NP right for you?

  • Usually suits: thumb arthritis (including CMC thumb arthritis) and tendinitis. Those are the indications 3-Point Products lists.
  • Support level: it's a soft support. The stay adds more control; it isn't a rigid splint.
  • Check with your therapist first: if you've had recent thumb surgery or an injury that needs the thumb held completely still. A rigid splint may suit better.
  • Latex: no natural rubber latex was used in the product or packaging.

Every hand is different, so talk to your hand therapist or doctor about whether it's right for you and how to wear it.

Choosing the right size and side

3-Point Products sizes the ThumSling NP by one measurement: around the big knuckles (the MP joints).

  1. Measure: lay the hand flat and wrap a soft tape around the hand at the big knuckles, leaving the thumb out.
  2. Read the chart: up to 18.4cm is Sm/Med; 18.4cm and over is Med/Lrg.
  3. Right on 18.4cm? Email us the measurement and we'll help you choose.
  4. Choose the side: order Left for the left hand and Right for the right hand.
Size Around the big knuckles Sides we stock
Sm/Med 15.2 to 18.4cm (6 to 7 1/4in) Left, Right
Med/Lrg 18.4 to 23.5cm (7 1/4 to 9 1/4in) Left, Right
