An Alternating Air Mattress That Replaces the Mattress Altogether

The Cobalt AirTec 8 Alternating Air Mattress is a full mattress replacement system. It sits straight on the bed base, so you don't need a foam mattress or underlay underneath it. Its 20cm air cells take turns to inflate and deflate, and the SmartSense pump sets the pressure to the weight of the person lying on it.

Why a Mattress Replacement System Makes Sense

When someone spends long hours in bed, the usual set-up is an air overlay on top of a foam mattress. That works, but it lifts the sleeping surface higher, which makes getting in and out harder and adds height if there's a fall. The AirTec 8 does the job of both layers on its own. Each cell has a second air cell inside it that stays fully inflated, so there's a steady air base underneath and the bed surface stays lower.

Set-up is simple. You don't need to dial in a weight setting: the SmartSense pump works out the pressure by itself, and you can fine-tune it a little softer or firmer if the person in bed prefers.

• Cell-in-cell design. An inner air cell stays inflated, so no mattress or underlay is needed underneath.
• SmartSense automatic pump. Adjusts cell pressure to body weight, with manual fine adjustment of 5mmHg either way.
• 1-in-2 (A+B) alternating cycle. Choose a 10, 15, 20 or 25 minute cycle.
• Static/care mode. Holds every cell at even pressure while care is given or during transfers, then returns to alternating after 20 minutes.
• Seat inflate mode. Adds pressure through the mattress for extra support around the lower back when sitting up in bed.
• Max inflation. Quickly firms up every cell to its highest pressure.
• Whisper-quiet pump. Runs at under 19dB, so it won't keep the household awake.
• Alarms you can see and hear. Low pressure, power failure and a service alarm, plus a panel lock so settings don't get bumped.
• Rapid CPR release. A pull tab deflates the mattress quickly in an emergency.
• Quick-connect hoses with a transport cap. Keeps the mattress inflated if you need to move it.
• Stretch nylon PU cover with cotton lining. Vapour permeable, fluid resistant and flame retardant (CA-117), and it zips off for washing.
• Elastic corner straps and cable keeper. Holds the mattress on the bed base and keeps the power lead off the floor.
• Carry bag included. Handy for storage or moving between homes.

Good to know before you order:

• Cobalt rates the AirTec 8 for people assessed as at-risk through to high-risk of pressure injury. We recommend speaking with your healthcare provider about which level of support is right.
• The safe working load is 200kg.
• It needs a power point near the bed for the pump.
• Check your bed base is a standard single (88cm) or king single (105cm) width before choosing a size.
