Durable Aluminium Threshold Ramp for Effortless Home Access

Is a raised door sill making parts of your home a no-go zone? This daily frustration can limit independence and create a constant worry about safety for yourself or loved ones using a wheelchair, scooter, or walker. Our Aluminium Threshold Ramp provides a strong, stable, and reliable solution, instantly bridging that lip for seamless, stress-free entry.

A Portable Wheelchair Ramp Designed for Safety and Convenience

The Gateway Ramp delivers a reliable, long-term solution for easy entry to homes, decks, and buildings. Crafted from durable, rust-resistant aluminium, it lays over a raised door sill with a slope on both sides, so you roll up, across, and down in one smooth movement. It suits sliding door tracks, patio and balcony sills, and any raised internal threshold. This scooter access ramp features an all-weather, full-width non-slip surface that folds inside when carrying for extra safety. With its slip-resistant tread, integral comfort carrying handles, and low-maintenance design, this portable wheelchair ramp offers safe, seamless access you can depend on. No assembly required.

  • Strong and Stable: Ready for everyday access with a Safe Working Load (SWL) of 272kg.
  • Durable and Low-Maintenance: Crafted from rust-resistant aluminium for long-lasting use.
  • Maximum Safety: Features an all-weather, full-width non-slip surface.
  • Ultra-Portable: Folds down the centre for transport with integral comfort carrying handles.
  • Ready to Use: No assembly required, just position and go.

Will This Suit My Doorway?

This is a threshold ramp, not a step ramp. It is designed for the raised sill in a doorway, not for a step up to a porch or landing.

Three things decide whether it suits your doorway:

  • Sill height: 4cm or less. The raised centre spine is 4cm high and rests on top of your sill. Both sizes are the same here. If your sill is higher than 4cm, this ramp is not the right product and you need a step or modular ramp instead. Contact us and we will point you to one.
  • Sill coverage: 71cm. Both sizes span 71cm along the doorway. Your wheels need to stay inside that 71cm as you cross, so check the outer width of your chair or scooter, not just the seat.
  • Floor space: this is what the two sizes are for. The longer ramp spreads the same 4cm rise over more distance, giving a gentler approach at the cost of more floor taken up on each side.

Choose the 91cm if floor space is tight, such as a narrow hallway or a small landing. Choose the 122cm if you have the room, if the user propels a manual chair unassisted, or if the approach is on carpet, which makes any slope feel steeper.

How to Measure Before You Buy

  1. Measure the sill height. Rest a tape measure flat on the floor beside the sill and measure straight up to the highest point of the sill. This must be 4cm or less. Measure the sill itself, not the door frame or the weather seal.
  2. Check both sides. Many doorways sit higher outside than inside. Measure from the inside floor and from the outside surface, and use the larger of the two figures.
  3. Measure your device width. Measure across the widest point, usually the wheels or the armrests, and confirm it fits comfortably within the 71cm the ramp covers.
  4. Measure the floor run-off. Check the clear flat space on each side of the doorway. You need roughly half the ramp's total length on each side, plus enough room to line up straight before you approach.
  5. Check the ground outside. Soft lawn, loose gravel, or a path that falls away from the house will change how the ramp sits. It needs firm, level footing on both sides.

Once you have confirmed your sill is 4cm or less, match your available floor space against the table below. If you are between the two, size up: the longer ramp is always the easier one to use.

Technical Details for Your Ideal Aluminium Threshold Ramp

Both sizes cover 71cm along the doorway, bridge a sill of up to 4cm, and are rated to a Safe Working Load of 272kg in rust-resistant aluminium.

Aluminium Threshold Ramp sizes, floor space and approach gradient

SKU Total length across doorway Approx. run each side Approach gradient Weight
RIST1955 91cm 45cm About 1:11 7.4kg
RIST1957 122cm 61cm About 1:15 10.3kg

For reference, AS 1428.1 sets 1:14 as the gradient for permanent public access ramps. Both sizes here are gentle by portable-ramp standards, and the 122cm is gentler again.

Note on gradient figures: the run and gradient columns are calculated from the total length and the 4cm rise, assuming the two panels are equal, and are not stated by the manufacturer. The total length, 71cm coverage, 4cm rise, weight, and Safe Working Load are the manufacturer's own figures. The manufacturer notes that specifications can vary by up to 10 per cent.

Warranty: This product comes with a 1-year warranty.
