Put pressure right where you're stiff with BakBalls

BakBalls are a self-treatment device for the back and neck. You lie on them on the floor or lean against them in a chair, and their patented shape puts localised pressure directly onto stiff joints and tight muscles. A sports physiotherapist to the Australian Olympic team designed them. They come in two pressures: Regular (red) and Firm (black).

Use them at home, at work or on the go

After a long day at the desk, put BakBalls on the floor, lie back so they sit either side of your spine and let your body weight do the work. In the office chair, in the car or on a plane, slip them behind your back and lean in. They're light and small enough to take with you.

More than your back

BakBalls are also used on the shoulders, glutes, hamstrings, ITBs, calves and the soles of the feet (plantar fascia). The videos below show how to use them on each area.

What's in BakBalls

  • Patented shape that puts localised pressure onto stiff joints and tight muscles, so you can work on them yourself.
  • Two pressures, Regular red and Firm black, so you can start gentle and step up later.
  • Floor or seated use, lying on them or leaning against them in a chair.
  • Light and portable for home, the office, the car or a flight.
  • Latex free.
  • Class 1 medical device, registered with the TGA and FDA.

BakPhysio's own videos show how BakBalls work and how to use them safely on each area.

Are BakBalls right for you?

  • Usually suits: people who want to put their own pressure on stiff spots in the back, neck, shoulders, glutes, hamstrings, ITBs, calves or plantar fascia, lying on the floor or leaning against a chair.
  • Check with your healthcare provider first: if you have a recent injury or a back or neck condition that's being managed.
  • Latex: BakBalls don't contain latex.

Everyone is different, so we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider about whether they're right for you.

Choosing the right pressure

BakBalls come in two pressures. Pick the one that matches how firm a massage you're used to. BakPhysio explains the difference in this short video.

Option Suits
Regular (red) First-timers, a particularly tight back, a mild to moderate massage, or older users
Firm (black) Stepping up after 3 to 6 months on red, or anyone who likes a strong massage

Not sure? Start with red. BakPhysio suggests moving to black after 3 to 6 months if you want more pressure.
