Room for the cast, steady on your feet: Darco SlimLine Cast Boot

The Darco SlimLine Cast Boot is a cast shoe made to fit over fibreglass casts, bulky compression bandages and a range of wound dressings. The square toe gives the cast more room and acts as a protective bumper, and the rocker sole helps the foot roll smoothly through each step. It's sold as one boot and fits the left or right foot.

Get around with a cast or bulky bandage

A cast on the foot makes even a trip to the letterbox awkward. Slip the SlimLine over the cast or dressing, close the forefoot flap, then fasten the elastic strap and the high ankle strap. The hook-and-loop closures adjust to the bulk of the cast, and the ankle strap adds stability while you walk.

What's in the Darco SlimLine Cast Boot

Features

  • Square toe acts as a protective bumper and gives more room for larger casts and bandages.
  • MetaShank protection gives more rigid control under the ball of the foot (the metatarsal heads).
  • Universal forefoot closure fits the left or right foot.
  • Higher ankle strap adds stability.
  • Elastic strap lets you walk with the ankle held fixed.
  • Rocker sole helps the foot roll smoothly through each step.
  • EVA outsole that Darco says is 20% lighter than previous models. Its zoned tread gives better traction and holds its shape and thickness over time.

Darco notes the boot may arrive with or without the logo on the closure flap. It's a cosmetic difference only, and every boot has the same EVA outsole.

Is the Darco SlimLine right for you?

  • Darco lists it for: wear over a fracture cast, bulky bandages, and healing after surgery.
  • Fits over: fibreglass casts, bulky compression bandages and a range of wound dressings.
  • Latex free: yes.
  • Check with your doctor first: whether you're allowed to put weight on the foot.

Not sure the boot suits the cast or dressing in front of you? Check with your healthcare provider. Our team is happy to help you compare sizes.

Choosing the right size

Swelling and the bulk of the cast or bandage change which size fits best, so Darco sizes the boot by its inside dimensions rather than your usual shoe size.

  1. Measure the injured foot with the cast or dressing on. Measure its length, the width across the front of the foot and the width across the heel, in cm.
  2. Compare with the inside dimensions in the table below and pick the size the cast fits inside.
  3. Use shoe size as a guide only. Darco's US shoe size table is a reference, not the main way to choose.
  4. Between sizes or a very bulky cast? Email us your measurements and we'll help you choose.
  5. No side to choose. The forefoot closure fits the left or right foot.

Size we stock Inside length Inside width, forefoot / heel
