A stronger, wider bench for getting into the bath

The Heavy Duty Bariatric Bath Transfer Bench 200kg gives you a solid place to sit outside the bath, then shuffle across into position over the tub. It's built for larger users, with a 200kg weight capacity and a long 68cm seating area that reaches over the bath rim.

How a transfer bench works

Stepping over a bath wall while standing is where a lot of bathroom falls start. With a transfer bench, two legs stand outside the bath and two suction feet sit inside it. You sit down on the outside end, slide across the seat until you're over the tub, then lift your legs in while you're seated.

Set it up for your bathroom

The backrest is reversible, so you can set the bench up to enter from the left or the right. The legs adjust in height to suit your bath, and the wide base with suction cups and tips keeps it steady on wet surfaces.

Comfortable and easy to keep clean

The plastic seat and backrest have a non-slip textured surface. Drainage holes in the seat stop water pooling under you, and the armrest gives you something firm to hold as you sit down.

Features

  • 200kg weight capacity: a heavy duty bench for larger users.
  • Long seating area: 68 x 41cm, reaching over the bath rim.
  • Height adjustable legs: seat height from 50.5 to 65.5cm.
  • Reversible backrest: set up for entry from the left or right.
  • Non-slip textured seat and backrest: with drainage holes.
  • Armrest: extra security as you sit down and stand up.
  • Wide, stable base: suction cups and non-slip tips.
  • Lightweight anodised aluminium frame: just 6kg.

Is this transfer bench right for you?

  • Usually suits: larger users who find stepping over the bath wall unsafe, and carers helping someone in and out of a shower over bath.
  • Check first: the user's weight must be under 200kg. The bench is 78.5cm long and 56cm wide overall, so you'll need floor space beside the bath for the outside legs.
  • Not included: a hand held shower, which makes washing while seated much easier.
  • Assembly: minor assembly is required.

We recommend speaking with your healthcare provider or occupational therapist about the safest way for you to bathe.

Choosing the right fit for your bath

  1. Measure the bath rim height. Measure from the floor to the top of the bath rim. The bench gives up to 55cm of clearance, so the rim needs to sit below that.
  2. Check the seat height. The seat adjusts from 50.5 to 65.5cm. Sitting with your feet flat on the floor and knees at about a right angle makes transfers easier.
  3. Pick your entry side. Decide which side of the bath you'll sit down from, then fit the backrest to suit.
  4. Look at the bath edge. A fixed glass screen or a wide tiled hob can stop the bench sitting square. Send us a photo if you're unsure.
