A roomier commode for larger users

The Heavy Duty Bariatric Commode Chair Extra Wide Seat 225kg gives larger users a stable, comfortable toilet beside the bed. The extra wide 60cm seat leaves 58cm between the arms, and the aluminium frame is rated to 225kg.

Bedside commode or shower chair

The frame is aluminium and the seat and arms are plastic, so you can also use it as a shower chair. That helps if you need a toilet at night and a seat in the shower but only have room for one piece of equipment.

Ready to use

It arrives fully assembled with a clip-on seat, plastic armrests, a removable cushioned backrest, a splash guard and a pail with lid. Suction tips on the legs help stop it sliding on hard floors.

Adjusts to the right height

The legs adjust so the seat sits between 42.5 and 60cm from the floor. A seat at the right height makes it easier to sit down and stand up again.

Is this commode right for you?

  • Usually suits: larger users who need a toilet close to the bed, or a sturdy seat for showering.
  • Check first: the user's weight must be under 225kg. The base is 67.5cm wide and 55.5cm deep, so measure the space beside the bed or in the shower.
  • Good to know: this is a static commode without wheels. If the user needs to be wheeled to the shower or over the toilet, email us and we'll suggest a mobile shower commode.

We recommend speaking with your healthcare provider or occupational therapist about the best toileting setup for you.

Choosing the right size

  1. Check the width. Measure across the user's hips while seated. There's 58cm between the arms, so allow a little room either side.
  2. Set the seat height. Measure from the floor to the back of the knee while seated. The seat adjusts from 42.5 to 60cm, and the closest match makes standing up easier.
  3. Measure the space. Allow at least 67.5 x 55.5cm of floor space, plus room to turn and sit.
