A strong, no-fuss steel wheelchair for everyday use

The Heavy Duty Steel Wheelchair 51cm Seat 180kg pairs a powder coated steel frame with a double cross bar, rated to 180kg. Large rear wheels with solid tyres let you push yourself, and anti-tippers come fitted for extra stability.

A sturdy frame for daily use

If you need a wheelchair that copes with a bit more weight and daily use, this steel frame with a double cross bar is made for it. The 51cm seat gives more room than a standard chair, and the foam padded seat and backrest keep you comfortable.

Self propelled, with no punctures

The 59.5cm rear mag style wheels have solid PU tyres, so there's nothing to pump up and no flats. Up front are heavy duty 20cm PVC castors.

Footplates that fit you

The footplates flip up and adjust for height, so you can set them to suit your leg length and lift them out of the way to stand up.

  • 180kg weight capacity: powder coated steel frame with a double cross bar.

  • Puncture free rear wheels: 59.5cm mag style wheels with solid PU tyres.
  • Heavy duty front castors: 20cm PVC castors.
  • Anti-tippers: help reduce the risk of tipping backwards.

Is this heavy duty wheelchair right for you?

  • Usually suits: users up to 180kg who want a strong, straightforward steel wheelchair for everyday use, pushed by themselves or by a carer.
  • Check first: your weight must be within the 180kg capacity, and the chair needs to suit your needs and abilities. Measure doorways at home, as the chair is 71cm wide overall.
  • Weight to lift: the chair weighs 19.5kg, so think about who will lift it into the car. A lighter aluminium chair may suit better if that's a concern.
  • Take care with accessories: adding a cushion or other accessory can change the chair's centre of gravity and make it more likely to tip. Always check an accessory suits the chair before you use it.

We recommend speaking with your healthcare provider, therapist or carer before choosing a wheelchair.

Choosing the right fit

  1. Check the weight capacity. The user's weight must be under 180kg.
  2. Check the seat width. The seat is 51cm wide. Sit on a firm chair and measure across the widest part of the hips. If you're unsure whether 51cm will fit, email us the measurement and we'll help.
  3. Check the seat height and depth. The seat sits 50cm off the floor with a 46cm seat depth.
  4. Check your doorways and car. It's 71cm wide when open and 32cm wide folded.
