A light transit wheelchair that travels like a suitcase

The Lightweight Transit Wheelchair with Pull Along Handle 100kg is a compact, carer-pushed wheelchair on a powder coated aluminium frame that weighs just 9.2kg. It folds down to 28cm wide, and a retractable telescopic handle lets you pull it along behind you like a suitcase once it's folded.

Made for trips, outings and appointments

Getting out of the house shouldn't mean wrestling a heavy chair into the car. This one is light enough to lift into the boot and narrow enough to fit between the seat aisles on many planes, buses and trains. Please confirm the width with your transport company before you travel.

Easy for the carer to push and park

The handgrips have locking attendant brakes, so the person pushing can slow down and hold the chair still on a slope or during a transfer. The solid 15cm front castors and 30cm rear mag wheels never need pumping up.

Comfortable for the person riding

The seat and backrest are padded. The armrests have foam padding and flip up out of the way for side transfers, and a seat belt adds security. The footrest folds away when you're getting in and out.

Features

  • Lightweight aluminium frame: powder coated, sturdy and only 9.2kg.
  • Retractable telescopic handle: pull it along like a suitcase when folded.
  • Locking attendant brakes: on the plastic handgrips.
  • Flip up armrests: with foam padding, for easier side transfers.
  • Padded seat and backrest: plus a seat belt for added safety.
  • Folding footrest: clears the way when standing up or sitting down.
  • Puncture-free wheels: solid PVC 15cm front swivel castors and 30cm rear mag wheels.
  • Folds compact: 28cm folded width to fit in the car.

Is this transit wheelchair right for you?

  • Usually suits: people who can't walk long distances and have a carer or family member to push them, especially for travel, outings and appointments.
  • Check first: the user's weight must be under 100kg. The seat is 39cm wide, so it suits a smaller frame. The rear wheels are small, so the user can't push themselves along.
  • Accessories: adding a cushion or other accessory can change the chair's centre of gravity and make it more likely to tip. Always check an accessory is suitable before you use it.

We recommend speaking with your healthcare provider, therapist or carer to make sure a transit wheelchair suits your needs and abilities.

Choosing the right size

  1. Measure hip width. Sit on a firm chair and measure across the widest part of the hips or thighs, then add 2-5cm for comfort. If that comes to more than 39cm, this seat will be too narrow. Email us and we'll suggest a wider chair.
  2. Check the weight. The user's weight must be 100kg or less.
  3. Measure your car boot. The chair folds to 28cm wide. Check your boot opening, and email us if you need any other folded measurement.
  4. Check the handle height. The push handles sit at 92 to 94cm (2 settings). Most carers find handles near hip height easiest to push.
