A precut pan splint that holds the hand in a functional position
The Rolyan Functional Positioning Splint is a precut static pan splint that gives rigid support to the wrist and hand. Rolyan designed it to immobilise the hand and forearm in a functional position, balancing resting length and force production. This listing is the Small size in solid white 3.2mm (1/8 inch) Ezeform, three precuts per pack, ready for a therapist to heat and mould.
From flat precut to finished splint in one fitting
The pan shape is already cut, so there's no pattern to draw or trace. Heat a precut in a splint bath, form it to the forearm, wrist and palm, then add your choice of straps. Ezeform stays put while you mould. It won't stretch out of shape when you lift it from the bath either. That helps when the person can't hold the position on their own.
What's in the Rolyan Functional Positioning Splint pack
Precut. Three flat Ezeform blanks in the pan shape, plus instructions.
Moulded. Once heated and formed, the splint supports the forearm, wrist and palm. Invert the precut for a right or left hand.
Features
- Solid 3.2mm (1/8 inch) Ezeform for a rigid finished splint that keeps its shape without reinforcement.
- Maximum resistance to stretch: the material won't deform from unexpected movement or when it comes out of the bath.
- Tacky, uncoated surface holds in place while moulding and bonds to itself when heated surfaces are pinched together.
- Reheat and reshape for adjustments (minimum memory, so a stretched area won't return to its original shape).
- Left or right: invert the precut for either hand.
- Three precuts per pack with instructions. Straps not included.
Is the Rolyan Functional Positioning Splint right for you?
- Usually suits: therapists and clinics making static wrist and hand positioning splints who want a precut pan shape.
- Not ready to wear: each precut is heated and moulded by a trained clinician. Rolyan says splint adjustments are made only by a health care professional, who gives the wearing instructions.
- Stop wearing the finished splint if unusual swelling, skin discolouration or discomfort occurs, and see a health care professional.
- Latex: Rolyan's material sheet describes the material as latex free.
Choosing the right size
Rolyan sizes this precut across the knuckles: measure across the back of the hand from the 2nd MCP joint (index finger knuckle) to the 5th (little finger knuckle). We stock the Small size.
- Measure across the knuckles. Measure straight across the back of the hand from the index finger knuckle to the little finger knuckle (measurement A in the diagram).
- Check it against Small in the table below.
