Targeted Support for the Ulnar Side of the Wrist with the Rolyan Ulnar Carpal Support Splint
The Rolyan Ulnar Carpal Support Splint was designed by hand therapist Dr Rosemary Prosser specifically for ulnar carpal wrist treatment. It supports the distal radioulnar joint and the ulnar side of the wrist, and its ulnar carpal elastic strap gives support and proprioception to help control ulnar deviation and wrist stability.
Why You'll Love the Rolyan Ulnar Carpal Support Splint
- Made for the ulnar side. It's designed to stabilise the ulna head and control dorsal subluxation of the ulna head relative to the distal radius.
- Comfortable to keep on. Two-way stretch 3.2mm breathoprene lets air through and wicks perspiration away from the skin.
- Customisable. The material won't fray when cut, so it can be trimmed for a better fit.
- Two splints in one. Insert the metal stay and detach the ulnar strap to use it as a wrist cock-up splint.
Where it is used
The splint is intended for ulnar carpal injuries including TFCC and ulnar carpal ligament strains, lunotriquetral ligament injuries, distal radioulnar joint ligament injuries, rheumatoid arthritis and midcarpal instability. The ulnar strap attaches to the circumferential strap on the back of the wrist, towards the thumb side.
The Rolyan Ulnar Carpal Support Splint in a nutshell
- Ulnar carpal elastic strap: support and proprioception.
- 3.2mm breathoprene: compression with a contoured fit.
- Latex free: and trims without fraying.
- Left or right: in four sizes.
Choosing the right size and side
Size by the circumference at the wrist crease. Measure the wrist the splint is for, with the tape snug but not tight.
- Measure around the wrist crease. Wrap the tape around the wrist at the crease and note the measurement in cm.
- Pick the size from the table below.
- Right on a boundary? If you land on 14.0cm, 16.5cm or 18.4cm, email us and we'll help you choose.
- Choose the side. Order Left for the left hand and Right for the right hand.
| Size | Wrist crease circumference |
| X-Small | Under 14.0cm |
| Small | 14.0-16.5cm |
| Medium | 16.5-18.4cm |
| Large | 18.4-20.3cm |
X-Small comes in a right-hand version only.
Is it the right ulnar wrist splint for you?
- A good fit: ulnar-sided wrist problems where a hand therapist wants the ulna head stabilised and the wrist supported on the little finger side.
- Check with your therapist first: the ulnar strap has to attach to the circumferential strap in the right place, so it's best fitted by a therapist the first time.
- Not included: the metal stay for using it as a cock-up splint isn't listed as included, so email us if you need it.
If you're unsure whether this is right for you, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider or hand therapist.
