A bend-to-fit resting hand splint for moderate contractures

The SoftPro Functional Resting Hand Splint holds the wrist, hand and fingers in a comfortable functional resting position. The foam frame inside bends by hand, without heat or tools, so the therapist can set the angle of the wrist, fingers and thumb. An extra-long wrist strap holds the wrist in place while applying a gentle stretch. It comes with a spare cover and a washing bag.

Soft support that holds the hand in position

SoftPro designed this splint for wrist, hand and finger stiffness and moderate contractures, where the hand needs to be supported and protected for long periods. It's soft and light, but firm enough to hold its shape. The therapist bends it to suit the hand. As range of motion improves, they can re-shape it to match.

Bend to fit, no heat gun

The closed-cell foam frame can be shaped up and down, side to side and rotationally, so it fits most wrist, hand and finger angles, including ulnar or radial deviation. Colour-coded straps help you put it on the same way every time.

Is the SoftPro Functional Resting Hand Splint right for you?

It should be fitted by a trained therapist, but this is the general guide from the maker.

• Usually suits: a weak or injured wrist, hand or fingers, including the thumb, that needs support, protection and positioning, such as wrist and finger stiffness, moderate contractures or rheumatoid arthritis.
• Not suitable with: an open wound anywhere the splint touches, or severe (grade 3 plus) swelling of the wrist, hand or fingers.
• Take care with: moderate to severe tightness (spasticity), as holding the joints still can be uncomfortable during spasms.
• Wearing time: start with 1 hour and add up to half an hour a day. Take it off for at least 2 hours after 6 hours of wear, and check the skin for redness each time it comes off.
• Single patient use.

Choosing the right size and side

SoftPro sizes this splint by the width across the MP joints (the big knuckles). Measure the hand the splint is for, resting flat and relaxed, or ask your therapist to measure.

1. Measure the knuckle width (A). Straight across the back of the hand at the big knuckles, from the index finger knuckle to the little finger knuckle.
2. Read the chart. Pick the size whose MP joint width covers your measurement. SoftPro also lists a length for each size; email us if you'd like us to check it against the hand.
3. Between sizes? Email us the measurement and we'll confirm the fit.
4. Choose the side. Order Left for the left hand and Right for the right hand.
