In short, the 2026 model has a reshaped tray, a handle that sits half an inch higher at both ends of its range, and a base that suits furniture with legs 19 to 32.5 inches apart. Check your chair against that range before you order (see below).
How the Assist-A-Tray Helps Around the Lounge Room
- Sturdy stand-up handle: the ergonomic handle supports a user weight of up to 113 kg (250 lbs), so you have a firm grip as you rise from or sit back into your seat.
- Tray swivels and pivots 360 degrees: swing it in front of you for a book or laptop, then push it aside when it's time to stand up.
- Cup holder and utensil compartment included: your drink, remote and glasses stay put instead of sliding off the edge.
- Adjusts to suit you: the tray sets anywhere from 26 to 32 inches high and the handle from 34.5 to 40.5 inches, so it works for different seat heights and different people.
- Fits most four-legged furniture: use it with sofas, armchairs, lift chairs and recliners, on either side.

Will the Assist-A-Tray Fit Your Chair?
The Assist-A-Tray is held in place by the weight of your furniture. The front and back legs of your couch or chair sit on its base pads, so it needs:
- Four legs: chairs with a round or pedestal base won't work.
- Legs 19 to 32.5 inches apart from front to back. Measure your chair before ordering.
- Solid, heavy furniture: lightweight chairs can shift when you lean on the handle.
It isn't made to stand on its own or to be used with a bed. The tray swivels and rotates but doesn't tilt from front to back.
Good to Know Before You Use It
- Stander's instructions say not to use the tray for hot food or hot drinks, and never to sit, stand or lean your weight on the tray itself.
- Check now and then that it's still sitting correctly under the furniture, and stop using it if it shifts until it's put back in place.
- Stander advises it isn't suitable for people living with dementia or Alzheimer's, or anyone who is restless, confused, sedated or frail.
