Quick, Simple Finger Splinting with Stax Mallet Finger Splints

Stax Mallet Finger Splints support the distal joint of the finger in extension while permitting unrestricted movement of the PIP joint. They're ideal for clinics, hospital emergency departments, industrial clinics and athletic training rooms that need a quick response to finger injuries.

Why You'll Love Stax Mallet Finger Splints

  1. Holds the fingertip straight. Each splint lifts the fingertip joint into a properly extended position.
  2. PIP stays free. Full motion of the proximal IP joint is kept.
  3. No padding needed. They can be used without padding and are commonly taped to the middle phalanx.
  4. Protects the tip. Also used to protect fingertip and nail bed injuries.

Ready on the shelf

Keep a range of sizes on the shelf and you can splint a finger as soon as the injury comes through the door. Each splint can be strapped or taped to stay in place.

Stax Mallet Finger Splints in a nutshell

  1. DIP extension: supports the distal joint straight.
  2. Free PIP: unrestricted middle joint movement.
  3. Strap or tape: to keep it in place.
  4. Sizes 1 to 7: in packs of 6, plus a 30-splint kit.

Choosing the right size

Stax splints are sized by the distance around the fingertip joint.

  1. Measure the injured finger. Wrap a soft tape around the DIP joint (the last joint, nearest the nail).
  2. Email us the measurement. Performance Health doesn't publish which size suits which measurement, so send it to us in cm and we'll confirm the size, from 1 to 7.
  3. Choose the pack. Sizes 1 to 7 (including 5.5) come clear, 6 per pack. The Kit is flesh coloured, 30 per box.

Is it the right mallet finger splint for you?

  • A good fit: clinics, emergency departments, industrial clinics and athletic training rooms that need a quick response to finger injuries.
  • Also used for: protecting fingertip and nail bed injuries.
  • Check with your therapist first: on how long to wear it and how to tape it.

If you're unsure whether this is right for you, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider or hand therapist.
