A Custom-Moulded Fit with the Thermo-Form Thumb Splint
The Thermo-Form Thumb Splint holds a thermoplastic insert in a pocket, and the insert can be moulded directly in the pocket using hot water for a custom fit and proper thumb positioning. This is the 5" short length.
Why You'll Love the Thermo-Form Thumb Splint
- Shaped to your thumb. Mould the insert with hot water so it fits your hand, not just a size chart.
- Proper positioning. The moulded insert helps hold the thumb in the right position.
- Short length. The 5" short version is the shortest of the Thermo-Form lengths.
- Left or right. Choose the hand and size you need.
What the short length is used for
The short and mid lengths can be used for thumb arthritis (osteo or rheumatoid), MCP joint injuries (ligament, arthritis and tendon lacerations), MCP fusion, tendonitis and joint fractures.
The Thermo-Form Thumb Splint in a nutshell
- Thermoplastic insert: mouldable in its pocket.
- Hot water moulding: custom fit.
- 5" short length: the shortest of the range.
- Left or right: small or medium.
Choosing the right size and side
The Thermo-Form short thumb splint is sized by wrist circumference. Measure the wrist the splint is for, with the tape snug but not tight.
- Measure around the wrist. Wrap the tape around the wrist at the wrist crease and note the measurement in cm.
- Pick the size from the table below.
- Right on 16.5cm? That's where Small ends and Medium starts. Email us the measurement and we'll help you choose.
- Choose the side. Order Left for the left hand and Right for the right hand.
| Size | Wrist circumference |
| Small | 14-16.5cm |
| Medium | 16.5-19.1cm |
Small comes in a left-hand version only.
Is it the right thumb splint for you?
- A good fit: a thumb that needs to be held in position with a custom-moulded insert, in the short 5" length.
- Check with your therapist first: the insert is moulded with hot water, so it's best shaped by a therapist, who can also advise whether the short or a longer length suits.
- Listed uses: the short and mid lengths are listed for thumb arthritis, MCP joint injuries, MCP fusion, tendonitis and joint fractures.
If you're unsure whether this is right for you, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider or hand therapist.
