Dynamic Standing Frames: Small, Medium & Large
A dynamic standing frame supports someone in an upright position while still allowing small, controlled movements through the hips and knees. That gentle movement helps keep the body active and engaged during standing time, rather than locking the body completely still.
Our HealthTec Dynamic Standing Frame (DSF) range comes in three sizes, plus lumbar restraint accessories for extra trunk support. Getting the size right matters more than almost anything else in this category, so we've broken the range down below.
Small Dynamic Standing Frame
Suited to smaller adults who need a compact frame with a tighter footprint. Ideal for home use where floor space is limited.
Medium Dynamic Standing Frame
Our most commonly prescribed size, fitting the majority of adult users. A good starting point if you're not yet sure which size is right.
Large Dynamic Standing Frame
Built for larger or taller adults who need a wider base and taller support frame without compromising stability.
Lumbar Restraint Accessories
Add-on lumbar restraint straps give extra lower-back support for users who need more trunk stability during standing sessions. These fit across the standing frame and transfer aids range and can be added to any size.
How to Choose the Right Standing Frame Size
Start with height and weight, then think about support level. Someone who needs more trunk control will usually need the lumbar restraint accessory added to their frame, regardless of size. If the person already uses stand assist equipment at home, mention this to your OT. It helps them recommend the right standing frame to complement the rest of the setup.
We're always happy to talk through measurements over the phone before you buy. No fuss, no pressure, just the right fit.
Standing Frames for NDIS & Aged Care Providers
If you're an OT, NDIS plan manager, or ordering for a nursing home or care facility, we offer NDIS quote support and can help with bulk ordering across sizes. Standing frames sit alongside our broader range of aged care equipment and positioning aids, so we can quote a full setup, not just one item.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size standing frame do I need?
Sizing is based on height and support needs, not age alone. Our Dynamic Standing Frame range comes in small, medium and large. Your OT or the person's care team will usually confirm the right fit, but our team can help you match a size from your measurements.
How long should someone use a standing frame each day?
Most standing programs start at 20 to 30 minutes and build up gradually under OT guidance. Always follow the individual's prescribed standing plan rather than a general rule. For more on building a safe daily routine, see our guide to positioning aids.
What's the difference between a static and a dynamic standing frame?
A static frame holds the person still in one upright position. A dynamic standing frame, like the HealthTec DSF range, allows small, controlled movements in the hips and knees while still fully supporting the body. This helps keep the body active during standing time, rather than remaining static.
Is a standing frame covered by NDIS funding?
Standing frames can be funded under NDIS Assistive Technology when they're recommended by an OT as part of a participant's plan. We offer NDIS quote support to help you get the right paperwork together. Read more in our NDIS Frequently Asked Questions guide.
