Comfort Cool Thumb CMC Restriction Splint, Neoprene Thumb Brace
Keep using your hand while the Comfort Cool Thumb CMC Restriction Splint supports your thumb
The Comfort Cool Thumb CMC Restriction Splint is a soft, flexible thumb brace that supports the CMC joint at the base of your thumb while leaving the rest of your hand free to work. It is made to be worn through the day during normal activity, and it is listed for CMC joint arthritis and instability, tendonitis, tenosynovitis and repetitive strain injuries.
Why You'll Love the Comfort Cool Thumb CMC Restriction Splint
- Support right where it aches. A padded, contoured thumb strap wraps around the base of the thumb to give compression and joint support.
- Your hand still works. It limits thumb movement just enough while still letting you grip and pinch between thumb and forefinger, so writing and everyday jobs carry on.
- Cool and comfortable all day. Perforated 1.57mm neoprene with a terry cloth liner helps keep your skin cool, and minimal edge stitching means a softer feel on the skin.
- A fit that's yours. Hook and loop straps adjust quickly, and reinforced stitching lets it be trimmed below the thumb MP joint for a custom fit.
Life with the Comfort Cool Thumb CMC Restriction Splint
Think about the small things that make a sore thumb so noticeable: turning a key, opening a jar, holding a pen. With the splint on, the base of your thumb has steady support while your fingers keep doing their job. It slides on and off without help, so you can pop it on in the morning and get on with your day.
The Comfort Cool Thumb CMC Restriction Splint in a nutshell
- Latex-free neoprene: perforated 1.57mm (1/16") neoprene supports the CMC joint and suits people who need to avoid latex.
- Terry cloth liner: a soft lining that helps keep your skin cool and comfortable.
- Trimmable design: reinforced stitching allows trimming below the thumb MP joint.
- Six sizes, left or right: Small to Large+ in left and right hand versions, sized by MCP circumference.
Choosing the right size and side
Sizing is by the MCP circumference: the distance around the hand at the big knuckles. Measure the hand the brace is for, relaxed, with the tape snug but not tight.
- Measure around the knuckles. Wrap the tape around the hand at the big knuckles and note the measurement in cm.
- Pick the size from the table below.
- Enlarged thumb? Comfort Cool Plus sizes are half a size bigger in the hand and a full size bigger around the thumb. If the base of the thumb is enlarged, the Plus size in your range may fit better.
- Between sizes? Some ranges overlap. If your measurement fits two sizes, email us and we'll help you choose.
- Choose the side. Order Left for the left hand and Right for the right hand.
| Size | MCP circumference |
| Small | 15-18cm (6"-7") |
| Small+ | 17-18cm (6.5"-7.25") |
| Medium | 18-20cm (7"-8") |
| Medium+ | 20-21cm (7.8"-8.25") |
| Large | 20-23cm (8"-9") |
| Large+ | 21-24cm (8.25"-9.5") |
Is it the right thumb brace for you?
- A good fit: day-long wear during normal activity, where you want the base of the thumb supported but still need to grip, pinch and write.
- Check with your therapist first: if the thumb sits in against the palm. The Comfort Cool Thumb CMC Abduction Splint is made for that.
- Good to know: it's latex-free neoprene with a terry cloth liner, and it can be trimmed below the thumb MP joint for a custom fit.
Every hand and every recovery is different, so we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider or hand therapist about whether this is the right option for you.

MEET THE FOUNDER
Australian owned and operated by David Thiu, Mobility Shop Direct was founded in 2019 to help all Australians find the right Mobility Aids to maintain their Mobility and Independence.
Whilst working as a Locum Pharmacist throughout Australia, David noticed that many of his patients were frustrated by how hard it was to find mobility aids and by the lack of information available. Most Pharmacies either did not stock any Mobility Aids, or those that did only had a limited range available, with many staff members insufficiently trained. Even when shopping online, most of the sites that did sell mobility aids were difficult to navigate, did not provide enough educational material to assist with the buying process, and did not have a wide enough selection.
To fill this gap in the market, David spent hundreds of hours researching, writing buying guides, and building this brand new site that you're on now. Thanks to David you can now shop, browse and learn about Mobility Aids all in one place in the comfort of your own home, and even have everything delivered to your doorsteps!
Today, we stay true to our roots and are online-only. We plan to stay that way in order to offer our customers the lowest possible factory-direct prices, fastest shipping times, and world-class customer service by phone, email, and live chat. Operating online-only means we can offer all this without sacrificing any of the things that made us excited to start this business in the first place like being able to travel and help people all over the world.
How We Give Back To The Community:
We love to give back to our community. Our love for Mobility Aids extends far beyond our local community. We've partnered with Variety to help Children live a better life with the help of Mobility Aids. It's amazing what a difference a Mobility Aid can make to a person's life. Watch this video to learn more about what Variety does for children and families in Australia.
Please consider donating to our fundraising campaign for the Variety. All proceeds go to help children in need to help them gain Mobility, Self Esteem, and Independence.

Let customers speak for us
from 606 reviewsIt is great just what I wanted
Very very good. Worth the money
A message from the delivery firm the day before with even a am/pm delivery plan would have helped me rearrange a meeting more easily
My brother, just recently arrived in Aged Care, had an old walker which had given good service. He is now less able to get around and the old walker had iffy brakes. So we borrowed another inmate’s “Rolls Royce” Drive walker and he was rapt! Could adjust the arms himself, partner could toss it into her car and the brakes were much easier to use. All in all 10/10!
Definitely 5 star product! Sturdy, glides smoothly, attractive, packaged extraordinarily well and delivered super quickly! Forget flat-packs! Pay for a good quality piece of furniture!
Very helpful. And order was quickly dispatched
Exactly what advertised and exactly what we needed
Great - easy ordering and fully met expectations
I ordered a bedside cabinet on wheels for my 96yr old mum. I did not want a flat pack. I wanted a sturdy, well-made & nice looking piece of furniture. I ordered online. I’m VERY pleased with what I received. Delivery free & arrived here Newcastle in three days. Delivery guy brought it inside & unpacked it for me. The packaging was PRIMO. I cannot overstate how well it was packaged. There was zero chance it would ever get damaged in transit. I attached the three handles which were provided with extra screws AND a screw driver (nice). The cabinet is attractive, moves easily on it’s castors & has a lip around the top to stop items falling off. Quality product well worth the investment. A++++++
Really good quality
Easy to find products online, ordering is very easy very competitive prices and extremely fast delivery
The Assistance Handle has been amazing for my husband who has just had a Quadricep Rupture repair. He used it to help him get in and out of the car whilst keeping his leg straight.
Grab Rail very suitable for our shower
Lightweight yet sturdy perfect for stability
Excellent, folds up neatly to fit in the boot of my daughter’s small car. Takes up little room when dining out.I feel very safe when walking.
