Saebo Mirror Box for Mirror Therapy, Folding
Mirror therapy at the clinic or at home with the Saebo Mirror Box
The Saebo Mirror Box is a lightweight, folding mirror made for mirror therapy. Saebo made it for people working on arm and hand movement after a stroke or another neurological condition, with a therapist guiding them. It opens with one hand and stands on a table as a triangle. When you're done, it folds flat again.
Practise at your own table, not just in the therapy room
Sit at the table, rest the affected hand and forearm inside the box behind the mirror, and place the other hand in front. Watch the reflection as you move the hand in front, and try to copy the movement with the hidden hand. In the mirror it looks as if both hands are moving. When the session is over, fold the box flat and put it away until next time.
What's in the Saebo Mirror Box
One folding mirror box with a carry handle. Saebo's product manual sets out the setup steps and 10 sample hand exercises to try with your therapist, such as making a fist and opening the hand, touching the thumb to each fingertip, and picking up small objects one at a time.
Features
- Lightweight and easy to move from room to room.
- Sturdy design that stands on its own on a table.
- One-handed operation: open it, grab the handle and lift until it forms a triangle.
- Collapsible, so it folds flat for storage.
- Hides the affected limb from view while showing the mirror image of the other hand.
Setting it up
- Place the mirror box flat on the table and open it.
- Grab the handle and lift until a triangle forms.
- Before your first session, peel off the protective film covering the mirror.
- Position it in front of the middle of the body, so the affected limb is fully covered and the reflection of the other hand is completely visible.
- Take jewellery off both hands so the reflection matches the hidden hand.
Is the Saebo Mirror Box right for you?
A therapist should guide the program. Here's the general guide from Saebo's manual.
- Usually suits: people doing mirror therapy for the arm and hand after a stroke or another neurological condition who can focus on the mirror reflection for at least 10 minutes and follow instructions.
- Vision: the person needs to see a clear image of the whole hand in the mirror. With visual neglect, they should be able to turn their head to the mirror when asked and keep their attention on it for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Sitting: enough balance and trunk control to sit in a wheelchair or chair, unsupported, for the whole session.
- The other arm: ideally moves normally and without pain. Big limits in the unaffected arm can make mirror therapy hard to do.
- Precaution: watching the reflection can bring on dizziness, nausea or sweating in some people. If it does, stop looking into the mirror and focus on the unaffected hand or another point in the room.
- Tight muscles: if the affected arm is very tight, a carer may need to help position it behind the mirror first.
Every recovery is different. Ask your therapist or healthcare provider whether this is right for you, which movements to practise and how often.

MEET THE FOUNDER
Australian owned and operated by David Thiu, Mobility Shop Direct was founded in 2019 to help all Australians find the right Mobility Aids to maintain their Mobility and Independence.
Whilst working as a Locum Pharmacist throughout Australia, David noticed that many of his patients were frustrated by how hard it was to find mobility aids and by the lack of information available. Most Pharmacies either did not stock any Mobility Aids, or those that did only had a limited range available, with many staff members insufficiently trained. Even when shopping online, most of the sites that did sell mobility aids were difficult to navigate, did not provide enough educational material to assist with the buying process, and did not have a wide enough selection.
To fill this gap in the market, David spent hundreds of hours researching, writing buying guides, and building this brand new site that you're on now. Thanks to David you can now shop, browse and learn about Mobility Aids all in one place in the comfort of your own home, and even have everything delivered to your doorsteps!
Today, we stay true to our roots and are online-only. We plan to stay that way in order to offer our customers the lowest possible factory-direct prices, fastest shipping times, and world-class customer service by phone, email, and live chat. Operating online-only means we can offer all this without sacrificing any of the things that made us excited to start this business in the first place like being able to travel and help people all over the world.
How We Give Back To The Community:
We love to give back to our community. Our love for Mobility Aids extends far beyond our local community. We've partnered with Variety to help Children live a better life with the help of Mobility Aids. It's amazing what a difference a Mobility Aid can make to a person's life. Watch this video to learn more about what Variety does for children and families in Australia.
Please consider donating to our fundraising campaign for the Variety. All proceeds go to help children in need to help them gain Mobility, Self Esteem, and Independence.

Let customers speak for us
from 606 reviewsIt is great just what I wanted
Very very good. Worth the money
A message from the delivery firm the day before with even a am/pm delivery plan would have helped me rearrange a meeting more easily
My brother, just recently arrived in Aged Care, had an old walker which had given good service. He is now less able to get around and the old walker had iffy brakes. So we borrowed another inmate’s “Rolls Royce” Drive walker and he was rapt! Could adjust the arms himself, partner could toss it into her car and the brakes were much easier to use. All in all 10/10!
Definitely 5 star product! Sturdy, glides smoothly, attractive, packaged extraordinarily well and delivered super quickly! Forget flat-packs! Pay for a good quality piece of furniture!
Very helpful. And order was quickly dispatched
Exactly what advertised and exactly what we needed
Great - easy ordering and fully met expectations
I ordered a bedside cabinet on wheels for my 96yr old mum. I did not want a flat pack. I wanted a sturdy, well-made & nice looking piece of furniture. I ordered online. I’m VERY pleased with what I received. Delivery free & arrived here Newcastle in three days. Delivery guy brought it inside & unpacked it for me. The packaging was PRIMO. I cannot overstate how well it was packaged. There was zero chance it would ever get damaged in transit. I attached the three handles which were provided with extra screws AND a screw driver (nice). The cabinet is attractive, moves easily on it’s castors & has a lip around the top to stop items falling off. Quality product well worth the investment. A++++++
Really good quality
Easy to find products online, ordering is very easy very competitive prices and extremely fast delivery
The Assistance Handle has been amazing for my husband who has just had a Quadricep Rupture repair. He used it to help him get in and out of the car whilst keeping his leg straight.
Grab Rail very suitable for our shower

Excellent, folds up neatly to fit in the boot of my daughter’s small car. Takes up little room when dining out.I feel very safe when walking.
